National concealed carry up for vote in senate

#1Sniper_BrosefPosted 4/17/2013 2:08:39 PM
Most likely it will fail but it makes no sense as to why since those who get concealed carry licenses are required to pass background checks...

Schumer just vehemently disagreed with this bill saying that "a felon could somehow obtain a concealed carry license and then legally carry in other states"

A felon can't have a gun in the first place senator, therefore they cannot legally carry...

Yeah some of Schumer's argument was a bit over the top, but I agreed with the fundamental "let the states decide" premise. What works for TX might not work for NY.

"Let the states decide" has always been, in almost every situation, intended to mean 'Let us be as insane and backwards as we want to'.

On this particular issue Im torn... I love states rights but at the same time this seems like it could be considered covered by the 2nd amendment. Also what about people that work in other states? They're not allowed to protect themselves just when their in your state which means they have to be unarmed for the entire commute?

You think it is insane and backwards for Schumer (D - NY) to argue against NY being forced to recognize concealed carry licenses from other states?

Given his arguments seem childish and bizarre for a veteran lawmaker to make, sure.
