it's f***ing semantics so who cares. you KNOW what they mean

We care because:
1. Obama has actually reduced the deficit by over 500 billion - Bush raised it by 1.4 trillion. The debt is the amount amassed by successive years of deficit. Therefore, Bush hiking up the deficit to such a huge number from a surplus makes him more responsible for our debt situation than Obama, who lowered it by 500 billion. So, for the discussion of Obama's value as a President and the level of responsibility he holds for the debt, it is important to make that distinction for a closer examination of the topic at hand.

2. Words mean things. You cant just ragenflob and kirekhf everyone to arefer what you mean.

ehhh...It went up in 08 and especially 09 because of the financial crisis, but the 2007 deficit was only 161B

Yeah but my main point is that, relative to what he was handed, he has done a decent job with the deficit. Saying Obama has increased the deficit by 6 trillion instead of saying that the debt has gone up by 6 trillion due to a deficit spike that happened under Bush's fiscal years and decreased under Obama's is misleading.

True true. It's good to correct people when they say something that is factually incorrect.
