Tennessee Republican thinks exposing animal cruelty is the same thing as rape

#1NoName999Posted 4/30/2013 6:52:16 AM
Tennessee state Rep. Andy Holt (R-Dresden) described the Humane Society as radicals and accused them of promoting rape-like tactics against farmers, according to emails released Friday.

Kayci McLeod of the Human Society had written to Holt earlier this month to ask him to oppose legislation that would criminalize activists who exposed animal abuse on factory farms and in slaughterhouses.

Holt, who sponsored the bill in the Tennessee House, was apparently not too pleased to have received the correspondence.

“I am extremely pleased that we were able to pass HB 1191 today to help protect livestock in Tennessee from suffering months of needless investigation that propagandist groups of radical animal activists, like your fraudulent and reprehensibly disgusting organization of maligned animal abuse profiteering corporatists, who are intent on using animals the same way human-traffickers use 17 year old women,” he replied.

“You work for a pathetic excuse for an organization and a pathetic group of sensationalists who seek to profit from animal abuse. I am glad, as an aside, that we have limited your preferred fund-raising methods here in the state of Tennessee; a method that I refer to as ‘tape and rape.’ Best wishes for the failure of your organization and it’s true intent.”

Several state legislatures have considered the so-called “Ag-Gag” laws this year. Tennessee’s version of the bill would make it a crime to not turn over any unedited videos and photographs of animal abuse to law enforcement within 24 hours.

But remember, guyz, a random liberal online said that the GOP is the party of rape. Same thing both sides!

I don't get animal cruelty thing on the food you are going to eat. even if you treat the animals less bad, they are not going to hate you any less if they know the things you are going to do to them after they reach their life cycle.

It's the way they are treated.
I'm more against skinning animals though.

but they are going to be food, they are as good as dead meat. I am not going to look at every piece of meat I eat as the living animal panicking for its life before it died and then apologize to it for all the terrible things it endured otherwise I'd be a vegetarian

What an ass. Hope his constituency throws him the f*** out. Can't say I'm surprised that the GOP say horrid things that reflect their horrid worldviews though.

There's still a difference between the animal that had a nice, relaxed outdoor life with everything cared for who then died suddenly confused and panicked and then the animal that lived a life of misery, standing on legs that were breaking under it, constantly smelling fear and excrement and suffering and basically living in a man-made Hell which then died panicked, confused and in pain.

I'd much rather eat the former than the latter.

So...he's essentially yelling about people "profiteering" off of protecting animals from abuse and stating that by taping people abusing animals, they are using said animals (who they aren't actively abusing and are not the ones controlling the abuse) to human traffickers (who are).

That's a hell of a lot of derp.

help protect livestock in Tennessee from suffering months of needless investigation

There are a lot of pretty hilarious lines in that guy's little rant, but I like this one the best. God forbid we subject animals to months of investigation. I think we're all aware of how afraid chickens are of the police.

Maybe I'm not quite understanding what he's trying to say, but it's not really my fault. The sentence I pulled this from is actually a fragment, which is impressive for a sentence that runs on for so long. I guess that's what you get when a guy with a room-temperature IQ feigns being articulate. He clearly had a thesaurus write that letter for him.

EDIT

But remember, guyz, a random liberal online said that the GOP is the party of rape. Same thing both sides!

Didn't notice this before because I was too busy laughing at the stupid letter, but my goodness, does every single topic on here have to include a liberal generalizing the actions of one person to an entire party? While simultaneously condemning conservatives for doing the exact same thing? It's honestly pathetic. Not as pathetic as the rebuttal I'll see to this is sure to be, but pretty pathetic.

It is mind-blowing to me that the liberals here have convinced themselves that it's just the conservatives that are trolls. Hate to break it to you guys, but even if there ever was a time when it was mostly conservative trolls, that time is long gone. The trolls clearly won, because they've dragged the theoretically serious liberal crowd down to the point where they make statements like this. Constantly.
