History of weed?

I know that ganja has been around for 3000 years, and its natural occurrence in northern India made it an easy commodity to be traded through the silk road, but was the greco-roman world and the Han dynasty aware of this wonderful plant?

I don't know. Sounds like something you should research.

Hemp is more useful and interesting. If only the potheads would put as much effort into legalizing hemp as they do for the right to make themselves unproductive...

Many people would kill anything once it has been sufficiently dehumanized. That's why abortion still exists.

Duh, that's why I came here, I couldn't find anything on the web. Apparently smoking hashish became popular during the Islamic Caliphate, despite Islam's prohibition of drugs

I'm more curious about ancient civilizations though, I know opium was known and relatively popular in Rome, particularly in the eastern provinces, but I found no mention of cannabis sativa.

They do. And maybe you should put in effort to stop being ignorant because marijuana doesn't make people unproductive.

Implying that potheads actually care about hemp.

I prefer weed to alcohol (I'm a teetotaler really) , I'm also a second year law student in the top 23% in his class. Weed doesn't make people unproductive, a lot of unproductive people smoke weed is all. Hell, all my friends are college educated professionals (some working on doctorates while they work) and they all smoke or have smoked in some capacity. Chemical engineers, architects, electrical engineers, selling artists, etc. Yes, a bit anecdotal but the movie version of stoners is a tad outdated. It's a vice, not a lifestyle and that's where a certain segment lose perspective and turn into Harold and Kumar.

Full disclosure, I am from Washington state, we don't have much of a hang up about marijuana up here... obviously. 450 million dollars (conservatively) in revenue to close a budget gap by taxing something a great many of us are using responsibly anyway? That will fly.

From what I know, which is not much as I really don't have much interest, is it came out of China and Indochina. That's about all I know, aside from some of the legal history here in the States, which is pretty convoluted and a prime example of Federal overreach.

The only people I've heard talk about hemp are potheads, and they try to do everything they can to distance hemp from the unjustified stigma of pot.
