Is it sinful to use normally wrong methods for a righteous cause?

Let's say God forbade sorcery. But humanity is being oppressed by soldiers who can not only use guns, but magic as well. If humanity doesn't use sorcery, they cannot defend themselves or win. Would it be considered alright for people to use sorcery in this case?

Or let's try something more mundane. A Muslim or Mormon doctor has a patient who is dying, but the only way he can save him is if he runs a test that involves seeing the effects of alcohol on the human body. He must try it on a healthy human before he tries it on the sick one, to observe its effects. If the doctor himself is the only possible test subject, do you think God would allow him to drink the alcohol, as it would potentially save the patient's life? Yes, I did rip this one off from House.

I want to say yes. For instance, murder is normally banned by God in Abrahamic religions. However, in the case of wars, it is allowed, as long as the cause of the war is just.

I would say, at least for you first question, no, since death isn't anything to be feared (I've even heard *some* Christians say that fearing death is the same as not having faith in God/Jesus), and is actually a good thing. For Christianity, desperately hanging on to life isn't a good thing, so I don't see how doing something forbidden to extend that life would be condoned.

That's interesting. Islam has a different take on it. If you can avoid death by breaking some of the restrictions God has laid out for you, then do so. For instance: starving to death and all there is to eat is pork.

So, as a Christian, you're saying there was no sense in God forbidding the Jews from consuming pork?

Ignoring the fact that it does make sense, how does not worshiping idols make sense?
