How relevant is the Old Testament for Christians?

I should clarify that the Messianic Age would be what other religions (and REM) might variously interpret as Rapture, Judgment Day, Armageddon, Heaven on Earth, the End of the World As We Know It. A major shift in the order of the universe and the nature of life and death. It's something an outside observer would stop and take notice of, perhaps saying, "Huh, would you look at that."

What is Jesus referring to here?

In my opinion it refers to his resurrection, the opening of the Kingdom on Pentecost, and the final destruction of the temple.

It is strangely convenient especially considering this bit

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear

This pretty much means the sunny side of never. Seriously though, heaven disappearing? What exactly was that suppose to mean?

It's very relevant.

OT =/= Mosaic Law.

We know that God will create a new heaven and a new earth on the final day, as stated in Revelation. We know that's the day he's referring to as well from the next verse Matthew 24:36. The current heaven and the current earth will pass away.

So is it simply the Mosaic law that is no longer relevant?

If one was Hebrew, it would be.
