Just wanted to get this thought out there...

I hear atheists saying sometimes that since Heaven is infinite, it would eventually become extremely tedious and boring because you'd run out of stuff to do, or something similar. That argument always bugged me, it's implying there's a limit on what god can and can not do. This guy is supposedly all powerful and all knowing, he can literally do anything, it doesn't even have to be possible. If he wants to literally create an eternity of awesome stuff for people to do in heaven, he bloody well can. You really can't just say "well we'd run out of stuff to do eventually" because that implies a limitation, a limited amount of fun or awesome things god can make in heaven, which is obviously a falsehood as god is by his very nature, infinite.

You can debate the definitions of infinity or eternity or whatever, you can still claim that Heaven would eventually get boring, whatever. But implying you'd just run out of stuff to do is saying god isn't infinite, and regardless of if you believe in him or not, he is supposed to be infinite. If you just want to say he couldn't possibly be infinite, say that. >_>

I dunno, it's just an argument I see presented once in a while and its always seemed inherently flawed to me.

I don't think saying something like that makes any sense at all. The definition of "impossible" is not "can only be accomplished by one guy".

Where in the Bible does it say that God will provide said 'fun or awesome' things for you to do? What makes you think God even cares about what you personally find to be entertaining, and that he actually cares whether you get bored or not?

HK is right, claiming the ability to do impossible things doesn't make any sense.

The thing is, you don't need to go there to solve the 'heaven would get boring' problem, so you might want to dial it back a notch or two.

For God there is no time and space and He can be in billion places at once. Some saints like Father Pio, was in different places at once.

Yeah I kind of feel like when an omniscient/omnipotent being sits down to design an afterlife that will keep the people it created happy, he thinks it through a bit and arrives at a conclusion that works

That has nothing to do with this topic.

Just respond to him in kind.

Or don't. Not every post needs a response.

I don't want to be that guy, you know, but I have to ask - what exactly do you base this on? As far as I know - correct me if I'm wrong - the Bible says that in Heaven, we'll be in the presence of God. Worshiping him. It doesn't say that you're going to be entertained, or that the prerogative of God is to see that you find eternity to be a fun experience.
