Poll: the only ones that believe in ex nihilo creation are creationists/theists

Yes because the current scientific understanding is not "from nothing" at all

No because I'm an atheist and I think the universe came "from nothing"

This poll is now closed.
Note that if you're a theist and don't believe in ex nihilo creation, that doesn't require a third voting option.

Is there even such a state as 'nothing'? Conceptually, yes, but realistically... if there is, we haven't observed it yet.

Not enough poll options. Sure, current scientific understanding does not suggest ex nihilo origins, but that doesn't necessitate that all non-theists subscribe to current scientific understanding. I do, so I can't pick the second option, but I can't pick the first either.

Well if you could observe it, it wouldn't be nothing.

Not big on the poll. I would say "I don't know".

Well, you could observe the absence of anything. Ergo, nothing. Although I guess conceptual 'space' still counts as something? That just kind of furthers my point, I guess. We can't say there is a possible nothing, we simply don't know. Therefore the belief that the universe comes 'from nothing', is doubly wrong.

Nothing in the form of empty space is still something.

I don't think I've heard a scientific hypothesis yet that truly deals with "nothing."

I can't think of any more options. I mean, "I don't know" is just a useless option, simply don't vote if neither option is something you agree with.

I also don't think even a non-scientific atheist (at least 'round these parts where it's assumed that an atheist is irreligious as well) would say that "nothing" exploded and made the universe.

So yeah, I can't really see any other worthwhile options I could put.
