Christ said to St. Faustyna during a private revelation.
Before I come as a Just Judge, I will come as the King of Mercy. Feast of Mercy was declared in 2000.
The following sign will be in the sky. All light will cease from the sky, a complete darkness will envelope the world. Huge cross will appear in the sky, and from the openings where nails pierced our Savior's hands and feet very bright lights will come out that will illuminate the Earth. This will happen shortly before the Last Day.

Yeah it seems clear, since there is a delay between the sign and last day, it could still give people time for repentance.
