I don't want to offend anyone; I have an opinion about the Book of Revelation

Wasn't Washington, D.C. built on seven hills?

Revelation 9:11
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Destroyer.

Does that not make Washington, D.C. the Babylon as foretold in the final book of the New Testament? The final book that was not to be added onto.

Ugh. The New Babylon was Rome, and the Book of Revelation is just a doomsday prophecy that went nowhere, like all the others since.

Went nowhere? Since when the Book of Revelations has a specific date? You say it like if it was suppose to happen but it didn't.

Well, I'm glad you bought this up, paulo, and of course it is something that christians should not be ignorant of, but here is a wiki link that covers seven-hilled cities ->

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_claimed_to_be_built_on_seven_hills

As I often mention, God keeps repeating the same patterns over again, but the importance of the Seven Hills to God's Kingdom is that they represent the central power of the world at any given time in relation to Biblical prophecy, so if the city doesn't happen to be key (a Capital) to world power or of Bibilcal importance, they are eliminated by not meeting the other qualifications.

What we do know, and what we have from history is

1) Jerusalem
2) Rome
3) Constantinople/Istanbul

So it is God's consistent pattern for signaling the place of world power, and the rest that are of historical importance to the christian world, are Mecca from which the movement that would threaten the Byzantine Empire was centered in (after what else was taking place in Medina and Jerusalem), Moscow which was one of the last remaining hold outs of Christendom before Communism usurped it, and whose city's coat of arms is St. George slaying the Dragon -> http://www.worldisround.com/pphotos/9/479/404.jpg
and it being the largest country on earth. And of course, even Edinburgh, Scotland which under James VI unified the crowns of the Kingdom of Scotland with the Kingdom of England and Ireland, which was the precursor to the Kindgom of Great Britain, and would lead to the United Kingdom which is the Kingdom that rules this earth today, of which Washington D.C. is subservient. So God has kept this sign throughout time.

Rome was the city on seven hills. The beast of 666 (or 616, depending on the translation) was Nero, who was an emperor who killed Christians. Depending how you spell nero's name, you either get 666 or 616 for the number.

It was indeed talking about Rome. I believe that there is a future Antichrist and such, but that it will have some kind of ties to Rome.

That's what makes it so spectacular. How could they have known...
