Why do you NOT believe in God?

Im curious to see the various answers. Please stick to tangible answers please. No 'because i dont feel like it" etc. Im really curious to see all the reasons why people dont like God or dont believe, etc.

Because I do not find the presented evidence for his existence compelling.

Give me some extraordinary evidence for the extraordinary claims and I'll take it into consideration. Without that, there isn't any compelling reason for me to believe in Yahweh.

As for gods in general, the answer is that I don't care whether there are gods or not, and that will continue to be my position until I'm given an actual reason to care.

Ok, all revelant answers...

But did you guys actually put efforts into searching for God? Like asking to show himself? Or doing study in literature, etc. or study in history, etc.?

Or do you just sit around and say "well no god, so oh well forget that". lol

I get down deep folks. If you have somethin to say you better make it real and sensible.

Before I answer that question - do you actually care, or is this just about snubbing your nose at people? Because that little LOL at the end of your sentence doesn't exactly lead me to think you're interested in an honest, reasoned discussion.

No, because I have other more, real, tangible s*** to worry about over whether or not some super being gives 2 flying f***s about if I watch porn, 2 dudes get married or I eat some shellfish.

Oh no, im really interested. My intention was to get a little deeper than a one line answer.

I understand that you all dont see the evidence. But im curious if you actually looked for the evidence.

I said the lol because that sentence i made sounded a little weird. I wanted to put a human touch on it.

This topic of mine is dead serious.

Uh-huh.

I - like many atheists - was at one time a Christian, and it wasn't even that long ago. I attended church every Sunday, even helped my father write many of his sermons, and I still attend church. I'm constantly looking into the evidence for God. Repeatedly. In fact, that's what drew me away - when I sat down and seriously took some time to think about it, I realized it wasn't all that compelling. So I stopped believing in it.

Maybe one day I'll come back or come across something that changes my mind. I'm open to that. As of yet, I haven't come across it.

There, that good enough?

I understand that you all dont see the evidence.

Correction - I've seen the evidence. I don't find it compelling. I stated this quite clearly in the first post.

Because I don't see a reason to. Moreover, the only things that I can think of as reasons to believe are either impossible for humans to understand or direct contradictions of everything we know about science, logic, etc.
