A long time. Several weeks, at least, as long as you keep it in the fridge. If it's been longer than a few weeks, just smell it and check to make sure it doesn't look funny.

Using a smell test is not an okay or accurate measure of food safety. If something smells completely off, by that point it's been going bad for quite awhile and it's finally past the point of no return. And on the same note, checking to see how it looks is also not an accurate measure. IF you do see mold, by that point it's way too late and the mold is all through the product- you're just finally seeing it.

It should be fine if it has been refrigerated well the whole time.

So how do you test apple cider for freshness?

You really can't. Knowing it was kept in the proper conditions, you can be fairly confident that it will be fine for quite awhile after opening. However, if it is pasteurized or not makes a difference. Usually you can tell cider isn't any good before it's even unsafe to consume- it starts to change taste.

I wouldn't worry. Cider tends to last a while once you open it, providing it is refrigerated in the meantime of course.
