It's amazing how effectively the show exploits various horror tropes. The heavy use of perception filters was really cool, especially since characters kinda knew something was off but couldn't pinpoint it. The five most notable episodes of the season have to be (very mild spoilers): 1) The Beast Below = The Doctor notices several odd things about space-faring nation UK, from curious boxes to the fact that the whole thing is moving through space without any engines. --Spookiness includes: A: Glass boxes featuring fortune-tellerish robots. The heads can spin around to angry faces. B: Video of little girl reciting rhyme about the beast below (not even sure why this exists within the context of the episode >_>) C: A horrible secret that compels people to choose to have their memory erased. 2) The Lodger = Some time flux thingy traps Amy in the Tardis, leaving the Doctor to take up residence in a flat where the disturbances are taking place. And oh yeah, people are being lured upstairs to never return A: The rather obvious lure into a mysterious room. Passerbys hear a voice on the intercom calling for help, walk up the stairs then don't come down. B: A rather weird mold growing on the ceiling underneath the room where nobody realizes people are vanishing into... Rather effective mostly because you have this spookiness largely happening in the background. 3) The Eleventh Hour = Introduction of the Eleventh Doctor (a pretty major downgrade from David Tennant) and features his meetings with new companion Amy Pond. Pretty weak episode except for a strange crack in the wall that something has escaped through into our world. Oh, and perception filters. A: Perception filters. The mind blocks out certain objects so that they can only be first seen out of the corner of the eye. B: The creepy ass monster that escaped through a crack in space onto the Earth. C: The crack in space and time itself. 4) Amy's Choice = A two-for-one episode where the characters are stuck in a recurring dream then subsequently can't figure out which reality is actually the dream. In one they're five years into the future and Amy & Rory are living in a creepy village with mostly old people, in the other (more boring) one they're hurtling towards a frozen sun. A: Being trapped between two realities with the knowledge that the only thing that can save you is dying in the fake one without knowing which is fake. B: The old people. "They're like, really, really old". And that's not the creepy part. 5) The Time of Angels (part 1 of a 2parter) = A ship transporting a Weeping Angel (a super-quick monster that turns to stone when seen; first encountered in Blink) crashes on a planet full of statues. Features some heavy revision of weeping angel lore for some reason. A: Living killer statue hidden on planet with tons of statues? B: (spoilers) Anything containing the image of an angel becomes an angel >_> C: (epic twist spoilers) Doctor talks about the builders of the planet having two heads throughout the episode. He later realizes that it's strange, since all the statues have only one head. --- "We could set up a system where food was probably a lot cheaper than it is now if we just eliminated meat inspectors" - Obama

That's true. Martha was pretty attractive as well, but I did not like her character much. They moved too quickly from "Hi, I'm the doctor" to "I'll never live up to Rose, but I LOOOOOOVES HIM" --- SWERY! http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b188/rogueturnip/dinner.jpg
Season 6 has also been great so far. --- <body><div id="JohnnyTHM1212"><h1>Oh hai gamefaqs</h1></div></body>
That's true. Martha was pretty attractive as well, but I did not like her character much. They moved too quickly from "Hi, I'm the doctor" to "I'll never live up to Rose, but I LOOOOOOVES HIM" I think Martha was probably my second favorite companion, after Amy Pond. Rory has also been pretty awesome, a much better tag-along than Mickey. Season 6 has also been great so far. I'm actually half-tempted to start watching Season 6 instead of just waiting to see the season all at once =x --- "We could set up a system where food was probably a lot cheaper than it is now if we just eliminated meat inspectors" - Obama

I'm actually half-tempted to start watching Season 6 instead of just waiting to see the season all at once =x The seasons seem so short I actually like watching them week-by-week, it just feels longer to me. Of course I did watch the first four seasons in about three weeks. --- <body><div id="JohnnyTHM1212"><h1>Oh hai gamefaqs</h1></div></body>
Where are you watching Season 6? I can't find it on Hulu and I was watching S5 on NFI. --- "We could set up a system where food was probably a lot cheaper than it is now if we just eliminated meat inspectors" - Obama Cap Marvel
