Not if the Gamespy servers are down.
If I remember correctly, while you don't need Gamespy Arcade to play online, Halo's servers are still powered by gamespy (which would be the only reason why they outlasted even the Halo 2 PC and Xbox servers). And if Gamespy itself is down, then so is Halo --- DEFINE: Electronic Arts 1 Result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_BhtR8bEN6M

I've always seen lots of players online for this game, from its launch nine and a half years ago to now. It is getting hard to find a normal server though, so many are heavy weapons only, or loaded with mods, or "zombie infection" or whatever else nonsense. --- What senses do we lack that we cannot see and cannot hear another world all around us? -Dune
