I made a topic for this already, but I figured I would post it here for the few of you that don't venture outside of this topic.

Let's just assume that you could get one superpower. And for those of you with complicated superpowers, lets assume you get the required secondary powers (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RequiredSecondaryPowers) needed to activate those powers, assuming those powers only activate when using your primary power. What would it be?

For me, undoubtedly, would be to create (and subsequently control and absorb back) clones of myself, a la Jamie Mardrox of X-Men (and related groups) fame. For reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Madrox. Depending on how many clones I could generate, I would spend at least 1/2 of them getting jobs to cover all of my expenses. Then a portion would be dedicated to just entertainment - watching / reading / playing all the things I wanted to but didn't have the time to. A few clones would be sent to school and learning other various things I would want to learn. Any left over, (or any free once I free up some clones from other activities) would be spent traveling the world just to experience it. I think that would be f****** awesome. So, what about you?

I have actually been touching the water of more and more superhero stuff, so I can actually answer this!

It would either be a super scientist, or someone with illusion powers.
Super scientist so I can become a super villain easily, and I would actually be a good super villain in the background rather than tell everyone where my base is.
Or illusion powers because it seems the most powerful, even if fighting robots gets awkward.

EDIT: I'm also super excited for the GoT fight coming up, I hope it's as good as everything surrounding it. From the stills I've seen it seems like the authors don't know how to actually fight with a spear >_>
Also I really want to post a comic of the fight because it's awesome (also, spoilers for the fight): http://mccomseycomix.wordpress.com/2013/06/26/the-red-viper-vs-the-mountain-that-rides-a-12-page-comic/

Glaciopathy (ice manipulation) for me. Otherwise, flight. My favorite element and my favorite travel power, the latter of which often happens in my dreams (and it feels nice every time).

Just out of curiosity, which characters from the New 52 do you like?

I'd probably have to think about it. Though off the top of my head, Demon Knights was pretty good. And I kind of like the new Shazam deal a bit more than I used to like the old characters (though I kind of like old Black Adam more, I think).

The biggest problem with the New 52 is that, the few good ideas they've had as part of it could almost ALL have been done in regular continuity before the reboot as well. So the reboot itself hasn't really led to anything all that worthwhile in and of itself.

My go-to power used to be Darkforce (which I developed a massive affection for back when I played Marvel Superheroes RPG), which in turn made me kind of partial to the Lasombra in Vampire: the Masquerade because their signature power was basically the exact same thing.

But once I started playing Mage: the Ascension, my power set of choice almost ALWAYS included very high levels of Mind (and occasionally Time). Which would lead me to believe that, if I had the chance to choose ANY power set in real life, I'd probably go with either mind control or time control.

Which one is better probably depends on how well I can exploit the system. The most minor time powers would probably involve just being able to stop time, or maybe slow it (thus duplicating speedster powers like Quicksilver or the Flash), but a more robust power might actually allow for things like putting individual items (or people) into stasis, speeding up time to skip over boring waits, potentially reversing time (to undo past mistakes), and ultimately maybe even traveling through time, past and future. All of which sounds pretty kick-ass.

Mind powers at base are usually just passive telepathy, though at higher levels you might get stuff like emotional or mental influence, the ability to actively erase or alter memories, implant delayed trigger hypnosis commands, and a number of other interesting tricks. That gets even more interesting if there's a possibility of pairing it with other "psi" powers like telekinetics, pyrokinesis, psychometry, astral projection, faith healing, and so on. Because sure, they're not necessarily "mind control" per se, but they are often all sort of lumped together under "psychic power" in various fiction (and pseudoscience), so again, it all depends on how lenient the person or thing giving me these powers is with their definitions.

Let's be honest, though. No matter what powers I get, I'm going to use them like an amoral ubermench, looking down on the powerless weaklings and taking what I want when I want it without regard for public judgment or legal repercussions. Like a whimsical god, I would walk the Earth, offering my blessings where I choose, unleashing my wrath where I consider it earned. Unfettered in the truest sense of the word.

Nothing could possibly go wrong with that, so OF COURSE you can.

Probably mind control. It's easily one of the strongest and most versatile powers anyone could have.

Scarlet Witch type, Proteus type, Sir Jaspers type, or something else?

Actually, you know what? It's hilarious that there was actually a Wikipedia article on this, before they apparently got pissy and redirected it elsewhere:
