Help catching Abra at the beginning of the game?
Posted 6/27/2009 1:53:56 PM
Attempting to catch an Abra for the Mew glitch, but having an issue since he just teleports. I remember back in days of yore just throwing balls at him until one stuck--is that the best strat?

Get a Jigglypuff back in Mt. Moon and just put the Abra to sleep w/ Sing.

or use Bellsprout/Bulbaur/Oddish sleep powder, learned in the late teens.

Catch a caterpie and evolve it into Butterfree. With Sleep Powder and confusion, Butterfree is the best Abra catcher in the game. Just don't train it to a to high a level.

I agree with the butterfree option.
Once it learns Sleep powder, it will outspeed Abra, and Confusion allows you to chip down the HP gradually. Whenever Abra wakes up, just put it to sleep again.

Past 3 times I've restarted I've just chucked a ball right away (1st turn) and it's stuck. I'd just do that.
