Festering Essence of Destruction?

OK, I haven't played Diablo 2 in like years. So i started a new character today. And this guy outta nowhere gives me this item called "Festering Essence of Destruction".

What is it? I've never seen a item like this before in the past.

I dunno. it just gives reset when you collect them all.

On Hell difficulty, each of the act bosses hasa chance to drop an Essence. Andariel and Duriel drop Twisted Essences of Suffering. Mephisto drops Charged Essences of Hatred. Diablo drops Burning Essences of Terror. Baal drops Festering Essences of Destruction. Transmute one of each to create a Token of Absolution, which will allow you to reset your attributes and skills.
