PS3 controller works with TF2 on PC?

#1ZWAnimaPosted 8/25/2008 2:56:25 AM
dont say to me. why would you want to use that instead of a mouse and keyboard. well the answer is I am wayyyyyyyyy better at shooters with a controller, I'm awesome with a keyboard and mouse but the controller takes the cake for me.

Anyone know how to do it if its possible or not?

The XBOX360 wired controller works perfectly with The Orange Box for PC. They even have a console command to automatically configure the game for using the 360 controller.

I would assume that the same thing is there for the PS3, considering that the OB was put out on both systems. Personally, though, I got no clue.

google the drivers for the PS3 controller hook it up and see if you can change the settings in the Options to work with controllers i can see you getting owned like 9/10 times then come back the K/M setup.

Heres the instructions to make it work

1. Download and install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe). (attached zip)
2. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe
3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.
5. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesnt see it straight away.

Keep in mind, that these are hacked drivers, so if you have any issues with them, there's not much support for them. I've never setup a controller in TF2, try to use the console command to enable gamepad support. If that doesn't work, you'll need to use a program like Xpadder to map the buttons.

I hope that helps, and good luck.

The thing is, the PS3 controller is "officially" supported on the PC, so I highly doubt there's such a command. Isn't there a generic gamepad command though?

It's also interesting to note that although the SixAxis is not officially supported on the PC, the PS3 version of the Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul is. It's actually my main guitar for GH3 PC (Though the actual starpower doesn't work, because it was implemented with Sixaxis instead of the way it is implemented on the PS2/Xbox 360).
