Could a 9500GT max out TF2?

#1EdgarBlazePosted 9/4/2009 12:10:24 PM
Hey guys, I'm building a PC for my mother/sister. But, sometimes when I'm on my PC and my Dad is on his, my younger brother can't play TF2. So I figured kill 2 birds with one stone and throw in a cheap video card good enough to max TF2, newegg has a combo deal with ram and this card for cheap. So know if a 9500GT could max out TF2 at resolutions lower than 1650x1050?

Depends on the Processor. But a 9800GT can, so i wouldn't be surprised if the 9500GT can.

Yes, I use that video card, but it also depends on your processer.
I have everything max including AAx16, and have every class skinned.

Video cards don't work that way.

I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth.

Either a 5200 or a AMD X2 250.

Nevermind, googled it and apparently Nvidia is crafty with their numbering. :/

Copy paste go now

The performance difference between a 9500 and a 9800 is night and day. A 9500 is really not even worth considering if a 9800 is a possibility. A 9800 will be able to run all games on the market right now. Not going to run them all on highest settings, but it will run them. That 9500 is going to choke on anything newer thats graphics intensive like Starcraft 2 is likely to be.

9800GT will max out TF2 easily if you have a good processor (which is another issue). if you only have
~60-70$ to spend, buy a hd4670 (below, $54 with rebate) and ram separately.

i think you are confused - the FX5200 (i'm guessing) is a pretty old video card and won't run this game at all (and you should definitely not buy at this point, since you will be ripped off if you pay more than $5). the gts 250 (which is what i think you're referring to) is slightly better than the 9800gt, and is a pretty recent card.
