  3. How do I bind a key to "Thanks!"?
6 years ago#1

I like to thank my team-mates whenever they help me out. I can do this currently by opening up the voice menu 1, then pressing 2 (or manually type it in the chat box, of course). I want to bind this response to one key, so I can just press that one key to say "Thanks!". I read a discussion about this a while ago, either on this forum, or on the Teamfortress2.com forums (can't find it on either now), and someone said something about using the developer console to do this. Can someone please give me the developer console command to do this, if it is possible to?

Thanks! :P

bind [button] "voicemenu 0 1"

I would, but it violates an axiom I live by.

You do realize that it has been unbound by default for like... a year? Valve got sick of people bi- complaining, so they just unbound it.

more like bind f2 "voicemenu 0 1"
There is no say_voicecommand z_2....

http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/General_scripts#Complete_Voice_Menu_Aliases

You can put this in your userconfig.cfg file and then when you want to bind something you can use the aliases instead of having to remember that the first voice menu is actually voicemenu 0, and the first option is actually 0 and all that crap.

It's already bound.

Hit "V". And then say "Thank you". The game features an amazing voice-recognition feature that'll communicate the message to all your teammates! Amazing!

You know what? Even if I have a mic, I sometimes like to hear the characters say stuff for me. You might as well say "why bother to taunt when you can just press V and yell 'U SUXXORZ LOLOLOL!!!!1'" (even though that would really only work on AllTalk).

oh and hey guys, never bother to call for medic, just press V and yell "HEAL ME MEDIC!! MEDIC!! HEAL!! HEAL NOW!!! GEEZ C'MON!!!"
