How do I know if my max head was duped?

Here's a link to the item.

I traded for it quite a while ago, and I only found out about the duped max's head situation recently. I've looked up a few methods of identifying whether it's real or not, but they confuse me.

Thanks in advanced.

I've heard that most Level 1 and 7 Heads are duped

Level 7 Black Max heads were the most common dupe back then, so it's very likely.

I'm pretty sure people are afraid Valve is going to find out which items are duped, and delete them all at once, so people trade Max heads sort of as a game of hot potato.

The interesting thing is:

http://tf2stats.net/item/Max-s-Severed-Head/162/

According to that, 41.2% of all max's heads are from a "timed drop". The thing is, they should all be steam purchase or traded. Max's heads aren't supposed to be a random drop. That's probably a side-effect of the dupe process.

It also looks like TC got rid of the hat already since it says "this item was traded or deleted".
