Hats Aside, Which Is More Important In TF2?

#1Credit2TeamPosted 10/1/2012 11:23:55 PM
A. Being skilled at a certain class or weapon loadout and discouraging anything that you think are "cancer that discourages skillful playstyles", thereby making a point that TF2 is a game based on player skill

-OR-

B. Working as a team and playing for the objective regardless of weapon, class or playstyle choice, thereby treating TF2 as a teamwork-based game as its name suggests

(Sorry I can't make polls, new to GameFAQs)

How can you work with a Phlogger who will not be able to put out your team when it's on fire or counter Demo/Soldier assaults without an airblast. The actual answer is a combination of A and B since they're definately intertwined.

The only correct answer when you're talking about a video game.

It's not your livelihood. You didn't come from a long line of team based FPS players going back 5 generations. It's not costing you money or risking your real-life life when someone plays in a way you don't approve of. You play (hopefully) to have fun. OR you could be one of those sad individuals who play in order to feel superior to others, and then make up piss-poor excuses for why you're not (hint: blame it on the game! That always works, otherwise call out the other player and hope he will succumb to peer pressure).

This is only fun if you're talking about the aforementioned sad individual. You can almost hear their world crumbling around them as they rage.

Disclaimer: I am not talking about any person in particular. If you feel this applies to you, then at least you can recognize you have a problem, which I am told is the first step to recovery. The rest is up to you (12 step program or whatever).

Chinese gold farmers would say otherwise. >_>

Anyway, I agree with your points. I don't play TF2 to be good, to help the team, to spread a belief. I play it to delevel stress by pumping Pyros full of Scottish justice, and just enjoying myself. Does that naturally lead to helping the team out and accomplishing objectives? Of course, but I'm not playing to win.
