I've read the only help topic on the site and it's not helpful.

Even when I'm hiding, if I'm close enough to the street that I can pop out and get him, he knows I'm there and runs.

If I'm far enough back and walk 'uber-slow', I don't walk fast enough to catch up to him, and even when I'm behind him, he knows I'm there and runs.

There has to be a trick, because this method does not work.

i share your hatred of Renn.

i cannot imagine how i got him last playthrough, as this time around...

i simply couldn't do it.

and waiting around for ten minutes EACH TIME just to get a chance to chase him away in failure again....

yes, there were some things done VERY WRONG with this game!

Just keep ahead of him, and hide behind posts(close to his walking path)

Don't move till it's real close, and then slowly walk to its side..

This is what I did, and it never took long.....

btw select "erm....no?" in the conversation afterwards

I assume Renn is the cockatrice in Rabanastre. Just hide behind the post in front of the Clan House or the Gambit Shop (been a while since I did this, so I'm not sure which one I've used, probably the Clan House).

Thanks for the comments guys. The only way I was able to get him was when he got stuck on a Seeq outside of the Gambit shop (I hid on the closest side to Renn's path, next to the woman dressed in pink, standing along the pillar).

Then I accidentally selected, "Erm...Yes."

Then, somehow, I managed to catch him a second time.

I have no idea why he's so hard to catch -- nothing in the questline is *that* useful for the time you get it. I mean, it's good gear, but everything is farmable elsewhere.

Same works for me, and usually at the Gambit Shop, using its sign as a blind. It's a matter of patience and timing, though I too can understand the frustration of course.

Congrats on getting it done, JolosGhost. Such a small thing, but satisfying, eh? :j

It'd be more satisfying if I were allowed to punch the thing into KFC, but I'll take it for what it's worth.

If you can't catch Renn, then I'm guessing you gave up on collecting the 2 stars in Mario 64 you get by catching the rabbit MIPS, lololol! No Yoshi for you!
