One thing that I personally always thought was stupid...

#1InnerSolacePosted 10/2/2013 8:59:42 PM
The fact that we were never able to get these magicks: Aerora (we get Aero, and then it skips to Aeroga), Watera, and Waterga (we get Water, but not Watera or Waterga, as you all know). I always thought it was weird how enemies could use these magicks, but we never could. Unless you can use them with that technick that casts a random black magick spell... I've never tried that technick before, so I wouldn't know.

It would have been nice to be able to purchase these magicks, just like all the others. I would have loved to be able to use Watera, Waterga, and Aerora. Sure, it wouldn't be the greatest thing ever, but it would have opened up some stronger options for more elemental exploitation and such. It's not needed by any means, but to me the party magick always seemed kind of "incomplete" because we couldn't use these magicks in particular.

Does anyone have any idea why we were unable to get Aerora, Watera, and Waterga? Was it space issues with the game disc, perhaps?

Oh, and just to throw in something a little bit off topic: I just got a Ribbon from Cerobi Steppe! I was soft resetting to get some other goodies, and I thought, "Eh, maybe I'll see if I can get lucky and get a Ribbon." So I ventured off to where the Ribbon chest is located, and got it right then and there. It was my first time getting a Ribbon from that chest. Just thought I'd share what happened! (It would be stupid to make another topic about this, after all...) Now I'm going to see if I can get lucky and get another one real quick.

Waterga would have made the Cloud Staff useful... even more so in IZJS.

I would have also liked it if we could use an earth spell as well.

I'm not exactly holding my breath on an HD re-release (still hopeful, though), but if it does happen I'm really hoping they add these spells to the Vanilla LB, and create a Blue Mage job/board for the IZJS boards (or just add them to Black Mage, and assuming they give you both versions as an option), with these and other enemy abilities (the enemy elemental abilities—omg they're so sexy—and weapon Technicks).

It irritates the piss out of me seeing these lacking when they actually ****ing exist in-game. D=

Why on earth didn't these get added? I've read before that it was because of some programming limitation, but I seriously doubt that was an actual problem.

This annoyed me my last playthrough too. I was quite disappointed when I couldn't get Waterga for my black mage character

Agreed! After all, we can clearly see that enemies can use these magicks, yet we can't! I always assumed that if the enemies could use it, then there should be no reason why we couldn't. I doubt it would have been so demanding with the programming to add them to the shops and magick list.

On another note, how does one game disc contain all of the awesome that is Final Fantasy XII? I have seen games with a scale much smaller than this game's, and many of them have taken up 2-3 discs for the whole game. This is easily the biggest console RPG that I have personally ever played (I haven't played any others like Skyrim or related games, so I don't want to include those because of that; plus that game in particular is on a more recent console anyway).

I suppose it could be the quality of the graphics that make those games take up more disc space, however Final Fantasy XII is the most beautiful PS2 game that I've still played, ever. This game has such wonderful graphical quality for a PS2 game; and it's still all on one disc!

It's just kind of amazing to me, seeing games that are much smaller in scale when compared to FFXII, that take up 2-3 discs, whereas FFXII only takes up one disc.

They don't follow the same pattern. Aerora would be redundant most of the time, and Waterga is at a weird level where it's not that useful against a lot of enemies but it might turn Bomb King into an even bigger joke.

I don't understand what you mean by this. Do you mind trying to elaborate a little more?

Magick in general can be skipped throughout most of the game (offensive magick) due to the fact that physical attacks are always a good alternative; plus you have elemental ammunition to exploit elemental weaknesses also. I'd say that just about every offensive magick falls under the "not-so-useful" bit that you mentioned, except for certain scenarios. Now, that's not to say that offensive magick isn't useful at all; I still use it from time to time, just because I like using it; and it can make certain bosses battles a breeze, by reflecting it off your party members for multiple hits. However it's not needed by any means, either...

I'm not sure what you mean when you say Aerora would be redundant, either... Couldn't the same be said for Aeroga, then?

At the very least, I think we should have gotten Waterga, like how the game goes from Aero to Aeroga; the same could happen with Water to Waterga.

I'm not trying to sound mean/rude or anything, I'm just trying to understand your main point here.

I didn't miss the wind and water spells but it always bothered me that most flying enemies are weak to ground and for the majority of the game (Until you get earth element arrows) you can't take advantage of it. Why even give them a weakness if there is no way to exploit it? An earth element spell (quake) would have been very nice.

Being able to ground flying enemies by damaging the wings would be even better but now i'm just dreaming
