Anyone interested in some Expert mode videos...IN HD?!?! *insert echo*

So yeah; ever since GFAQs added the option to submit video links, I've been going around to my favorite games and submitting video guides/walkthroughs for them. I figured it was Kingdom Hearts' turn next.

I'm also playing it on the PCSX2 emulator at 4-5x the native resolution in a 1920x1080 window, so it should look much better than what you could get on even a backwards-compatible PS3.

Here's the playlist:

As for gameplay specifics: I'm playing on Expert, I chose the Shield and dropped the Staff, and started my journey at Dawn (+Shield and Dawn are the easiest parameters to start with, in my opinion). I'll be uploading walkthrough videos on a world-by-world basis (so I won't be showing every single little thing that I do, like backtracking to other worlds after picking up a new ability to get previously inaccessible items), and I'll add extra, separate videos for most of the boss fights.

Enjoy. =)

I admit, I was curious if you meant upscales or rerendering. Glad it was the latter, the lack of les-res blur really does wonders for the game.

Yeah, I would've been much better off buying a used 60GB PS3 if I just wanted to upscale the footage. =P

Too bad a lot of the quality is lost on Youtube, however (though I have been playing around with filters to try and "optimize" it for Youtube's processing).

I have a 200GB Xbox 360. I r teh superior, lololololol jk.

In all seriousness, how much was that emulator? I want one of those things so I can record my pathetic attempts at no-damage fights.

I'll have to remember to actually watch that playlist (as it stands I just subscribed to you and came back to this thread without watching anything). Expert Mode vids are rare, and are (usually) awesome. Especially when they're HD, and the HD actually looks HD (which I believe it does consider you didn't upscale).

EDIT: Nevermind about that emulator. Its install process is long and convulted, it requires an Ethernet cable, modchips, WinRAR, and a ton of other stuff I don't have and have no intention of spending the money on.

You know what needs to happen? Sony needs to release an OFFICIAL emulator that doesn't have this convulted and likely illegal installation process.

Umm, where the hell did you read all that at? Were you looking at some guide for jailbreaking a PS3 to install the emulator on there or something silly like that?

"Installing" PCSX2 is as easy as downloading the latest SVN revision here (don't use the "stable" release, as it's usually outdated due to new revisions coming out constantly):

http://pcsx2.net/download/development/svn.html

...and extracting the files to a folder of your choosing via 7-Zip (which is free. BTW, 7-Zip can extract .rar files, too, so you never need WinRAR, ever =P).

The most difficult thing about setting up PCSX2 is getting the BIOS (assuming you're doing it the legal way and dumping it from your own PS2).

Of course, all that's assuming you already have a PC powerful enough to run most of the games at playable speeds (hint: unless you have a Sandy/Ivy Bridge processor with a base clock speed of 2.8+, don't be surprised if you're not getting full-speed on a lot of PS2 games).

Emulation is legal as long as you dump the BIOS from your own PS2, create the .iso files from your own PS2 discs, and keep said items in your possession for as long as you're playing those games on the emulator. It only becomes illegal when you download BIOS and .iso files from the internet.

Also, considering how early Sony dropped backwards-compatibility from their PS3's to cut costs, there's no way they're going to devote resources to coding an emulator they can't charge you for (because nobody would buy it when PCSX2 is free), especially since coding an emulator that's meant to work on a wide variety of PC hardware is FAR different from building a series of homogenous gaming consoles.

Not to mention: why would they give you an emulator you could play all your old PS2 games on when they can re-release the titles individually on PSN and charge you for them?

I rarely watch video of other people playing unless it's a new game and I need help. That said, I clicked in this thread for the heck of it and see you just beat Agrabah. Did you create a save point before? I find it hilarious when you beat Genie Jafar using only Blizzard and he rolls his eyes at you as he goes down. That would be worth watching, especially in HD.
