Just curious; has anyone here ever implemented the first Final Fantasy's battle system into RPG Maker VX? The program is pretty easy to use, but its whole default game play system leaves a lot to be desired.

Also, in the NES version of the game, which is a more powerful weapon, the Masamune or the wooden staff?

Easier said then done. Seriously. Even 8-bit-style pixel art isn't easy to make.

If you use RGMVX, you can import sprites from the other games in the series or the remakes, too.

I've dabbled in python and C#, but I'm no game programmer yet. I'm considering using FF1's mechanics for my first game.

8-bit is pretty easy. The only problem for me would be how time consuming the project could be esp. since I work on other stuff..

That's more what I meant. Time consumption. I commission an artist who does all my work for my projects, even though I can draw and use GIMP and PS. There's just no way I can do both, and I'm far from what's considered good nowadays!
