'Weather effects' and 'Coronas' greyed out in demo? Widescreen support?

Just downloaded the demo from Steam and noticed that I couldn't select the weather effects and coronas settings in the video options.

Is this because it's a demo or is it my graphics card? I have 1GB ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 5770.

Also can I select 1600x900 res in the full game because I can't in the demo.
