World of Warcraft

Keep in mind we have to patch the game to get the pet added, which is what we're doing with Patch 5.1. Unfortunately, it's not at all a trivial process to build a "fast patch" to get the Cinder Kitten in the game before 5.1 is released.

That said, we were extremely anxious to get the announcement put up asap, as we recognize the time-sensitive nature of this charitable cause and wanted to make sure you all were at least made aware to expect it.

Buying the little fella is a donation straight to Sandy. Its nice, we got tore up pretty bad but nowhere near the wake Jersey got. I will be buying this guy in a heartbeat. We just started doing donations at my work :3 damn shame.

Little Ragnaros was 100% donation too, which is why he found his way into my pet list (awesome cooking fire too!).

This isn't the first time they've donated money from a pet to a charity. I'm glad they are doing this.

I know :P Just good to see them doing it again. Always makes me happy to be a Blizzard supporter.

Yes, it would - and it would also get you into legal trouble because you spent money that you collected for a charity on something other than this charity - effectively lying to those that donated the money.

However, if you did it with no affiliation to Red Cross (they'd never agree to let you use their name for this) - i.e. simply sat down at a corner with a sign about this and informed people that the money they donated would be used for this pet, and that 100% of the cost was being donated to Sandy Relief, the money earned that way could be used to buy the pet.
But collecting for a charity and spending money on anything but said charity is a federal offense.

If I could sell these in the AH after buying them with Red Cross donations the charity would still get the full amount of the donation.
