Best race and class for beginners?

#1samatashPosted 11/18/2012 11:07:00 AM
I am new to this game. I think I will play on a normal server and get to level 30 or so to get the feel of the game.

What race and class do you suggest?

This is going to sound like a cop-out answer, but seriously, just choose whichever you think is coolest to you. Choose whatever race looks coolest, and then whichever class that sounds the most fun to you personally.

That's the most reliable way to enjoy yourself with race/class decisions. Seriously.

Monk has lots of power without a lot of nuance. Add in exp boost and you've got a pretty good way to start.

For race, you should really go with whatever you like the most. It's really not very important, especially if you're a new player. It might be a good idea to try a class that can perform in multiple different roles (rather than a pure damage class) so you'll be able to try something really different on that character if you want to.

Race: Totally irrelevant. Races are mostly superficial, while racial abilities can be handy sometimes they're not going to impact your enjoyment of the game in any way.

Class: Ultimately I think you should pick whatever sounds coolest to you, since none of them are going to be horrible for a beginner or anything. But if you're really worried, hunter or paladin are both fairly forgiving classes for a newbie.

I have to agree here. When I started I went to the WoW site and read the descriptions of the races and classes and made my decision based on that and ended up with by far my favorite race and class.

I'll also agree. The game does a good job of starting simple and working your way up. You start basically with one ability and gain more as you level. Just go with what you think sounds fun from the description.

It's not like it was way back when; the game does a good job of easing you into whatever class and spec you want to play. You'll find that there's a plethora of helpful information just in the class and specialization windows in the game as it is.

This is fact and cannot be disputed.

Honest to God, the guys are right. Race doesn't matter especially if you are new. Go with what you like the looks/feel off.

All the classes are good for beginners like Arsto said now since you got a pretty decent built-in guide in the game for how to play your class and role (very basic but really helpful for newbies). Classes I usually recommend for beginners: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Priest and Mage. Doesn't mean you should stick to this list.

The only class that isn't good for Beginners: Druids.

Too complicated for a beginner, just because of their mechanics, though still not too hard.

Warrior or Hunter would probably be the easiest class for you.

Warlock if you wish to have something more magical.

But really, play whatever you want.
