Getting into a more "hardcore" raiding guild? but not as....hardcore?

One thing I seem to fall prey too is landing in a casual raiding guild. I get to 90, get heroic'd, then look at shouts or offer my own and accept a guild that raids at a good time. to be honest I don't know what defines casual/hardcore/etc. aside from how much they raid. The guilds I've always joined raid 2 days of the week and they aren't very experienced but we get better as the weeks go on. However...Idk, I feel I can do more.

As a DPS my task (generally) isn't something that hard, avoid crap, click proper crap, stand at proper places, etc. It's all very easy to do (I make mistakes sometimes too, duh, I'm no AI either.) but I do what I'm told to do and follow directions to a T. I also commonly #1 the DPS depending on the fight, I do my job well!

To be honest, I've always wanted to be in a guild that raids 3-5 times a week, because I do have large chunks of my day where I just play WoW, but aren't these "hardcore" guilds the one you need to be in full 509 gear to join or have years and super credentials to join or whatever? To be honest I don't so much care about joining the "top" guild of server or even the 4th top guild, I just want to raid more, plain and simple : ( dunno what do.

"Hardcore" is a term that's no longer associated with WoW anymore; not since the Vanilla/BC days.

"Back in the day" you need attunements, resistance gear, and a good coheisive guild to get through content.

Then the 'casuals' complain, and Blizzard puts in social handicap buttons like LFR/LFG...and really the sad truth is, there really is no need for hardcore guilds, unless you are really itching to get 509 gear ahead of everyone else by enduring larger health meters, and dodging an extra attack from heroic 25 bosses.

If you are looking for an MMORPG that still covets that kind of gameplay.....WoW is not it.

Most likely you'll need to look for said guilds that fit what you want rather than waiting for said guilds to notice you as they won't necessarily know what you want. One of the best places might be on the official forums for your servers where guilds might advertise they got open spots for specific classes/roles and will include other information such as raid schedule, loot rules, etc, etc. More than enough information for you to decide if they might fit what you need.

WoW is the closest thing to that, though.

No other MMO comes close

Due to the fact that most MMO devs are making that mistake to directly compete with WoW's design by making their game "casual friendly".

What's the point of playing a different MMO everything has been pretty much a WoW-clone?

Has EVE Online been reduced in difficulty? I've read it's easier to get into and the learning curve isn't has high nowadays. Only thing I've read that hasn't changed though is their version of endgame is still kinda one massive spreadsheet game.

I joined a US top 20 guild that was 13/13HM in tier 11 when I had only killed one hard mode.

Just do good in the guild you're in, get some good WoL parses and write an application that doesn't make you look stupid and you can get into almost any guild.

Another case of a lazy casual being carried by the good guys.
