Am I selfish or ...?

Was mining in Valley of the Four Winds when the yaungol rare (blackhoof?) went off on NCPScan. So I head over to him and there was someone already sitting there. Since they were just standing around I decided to pull it. The guy standing around invites me, and since I don't need his help I declined. I kill it and then he calls me a selfish ass.

So is this guy just expecting too much or am I actually a jerk?

Nah, if he was going to kill it he wouldn't have been standing around. Dems the breaks.

I've done the same. Hell, one time I killed an Alliance Shaman and stole his kill of the Mr Smite wannabe.

He/she could have been standing around because another friend or guildmate mighta been on the way to receive credit for the kill. Sharing credit would have given you nothing but at the same time it would cost you nothing as well to share credit with another player.

Personally for me, you taking the kill isn't the issue as that player ran the risk of not tagging Blackhoof. Anyone else coulda flown in and tagged it. The issue is you not willing to share the kill credit, assuming it's possible to receive credit by joining a party later.

So was it a jerkwad of a move, yes in my opinion.

oh... apparently the dude was in my guild, and asked if anyone needed it before hand, so now it looks like I just came to ninja the rare.

LOL. Totally at the wrong place at the wrong time. welp, there's no way out of the one. Abandon ship

Well that is just awkward......did you had guild tags turned off or something? I can understand not knowing everyone in a guild but not recognizing your own guild tag is kinda pushing it.

dude I do not pay attention to s*** besides what I'm doing in the game usually. The guild I'm in is some perks guild, I turned off the guild chat awhile ago because they don't even talk outside of babbling. 90% of the players don't say anything.

and when I flew down all I saw was a blue name and a character, didn't care to look that much into it. I probably wouldn't even have noticed him if he wasn't like right next to Blackhoof.

I guess I should pay attention more.

Should be able to right-click on a chat tab and under chat settings you can de-select what appears within that chat window. I like to filter and separate everything and have done this with four different chat windows.

yeah, right click the General tab in the chat and hit Settings under Filters. There should be one for Guild Chat. I also turned off Guild Announce since it announces the achievements they get, which is highly annoying in a populated guild (actually I think that's the reason I turned off guild chat completely, bcause all I saw in guild chat was "grats")
