Is it just fire that's green?

Why do people want it so bad?

I'd understand if it actually DID something, but it sounds like it's just a pointless reskin...

And if it's a pointless reskin, why the crap hasn't Blizzard implemented it yet? It can't be that hard.

They had plans for a nifty questline for it, but doing class-specific content is hard to fit in given the opportunity cost of "more content for everyone."

But yeah, they're managing to get it in for 5.2.

Yes, it's just fire that's green for warlock spells like Incinerate and Rain of Fire.

It's been hard to implement because it's not just a matter of changing all the fire to green, it's changing the fire to green for those warlocks who want it, but not for those who don't.

It's still taking so long because Blizzard is implementing it through a special class questline, some fun bonus content for warlocks, similar to how hunters get fun bonus content for their special rare pets.

I can't imagine it being more difficult than an on/off buff.

Depends on how it's coded. If there's anything connected to the graphic used in any way, or if there were any shortcuts taken, it could be surprisingly difficult to change it without breaking everything else.
One day dude, I'm just gonna get off the bus, and I'm gonna run in the woods and never come back, and when I come back I'm gonna be the knife master!

From the datamining a few months ago, the way to get red fire again seems to be to talk to the warlock trainer/quest giver and use a healthstone to bind it to another tome.

I think he meant on a more technical level.

It's fire magic powered by demonic energies, as warlocks use, as opposed to powered by Arcane or Elemental engergies, like Mages or Shaman. The Fel Magic corrupts the fire, so to speak, turning it green, as it did to Orc skin and Blood Elven Eyes.
