My unholy dps is higher then my 2h frost dps

is this normal? Im at 480 ilvl, with the sha 2h weapon twice upgraded with the strength sha crystal.

Also, when using unholy, i know a lot of people say the stat priority is str > hit/exp > haste > crit > mastery, but I feel like mastery should be higher, because the shadow portion of ss doesn't seem to crit.

That's not normal, but it might just be that you're better at unholy than you are at frost. Assuming this is the case, your lack of skill in one spec allows your skilled spec to compare and even pull ahead (although becoming skilled in frost should then pull that ahead of unholy as it's ahead by a pretty decent amount of dps).

I think its just easier to maintain DPS with unholy, where as 2h frost you can hurt your dps by accidently using a killing machine proc on frost strike. there does not appear to be any such inefficiency (well at least, easily mistaken) in unholy.

The thing with Frost is it's really detail oriented. You have to almost always use the right spell at the right time or the whole priority is whacked off course for ten seconds or so. Personally I DW Frost, even though I like Oblit more than FS, I have always been a DW guy and I would play it if they nerfed the hell out of it. Besides, FS is starting to grow on me.

The reason for this is, if I remember correctly, is because the crit gets passed to your ghoul, wheras the mastery does not (ghouls do physical damage, and currently your gargoyle does nature, although it will get upgraded to plague damage in 4.2.) Your ghoul is a healthy chunk of your DPS, and even your non-pet DPS is partly physical.
