Could somebody explain how raids work?

Specifically raids from the older content (BC, WotLK). The raid finder isn't available until 85 so is there any decent way to get a raid party going? Do these raids even still exist?

Sorry for the newbishness, I've been playing on and off since vanilla but never got into raiding. Thanks in advance

The raids from older content are all still around. Finding a party for them isn't so easy though. Most people don't run them at level anymore. Anything from vanilla threw bc I know you can get higher level players to run you threw. Most higher level players can probably take you threw wotlk as well. My suggestion is find a happy friendly guild and see if somebody will take you threw, I knew my guild went threw just for the guild achievements. Or you can just wait until you've leveled and you can go solo them since they changed the raiding system so you don't need a raid party to enter most of the raids anymore.

One day dude, I'm just gonna get off the bus, and I'm gonna run in the woods and never come back, and when I come back I'm gonna be the knife master!

Also, check out OpenRaid.us ( or .eu if you're in Europe). Its a site where community members lead old raid runs and you can sign up to go.

The raids are still in the game, you just have to fly to them, or have some folks summon you.

Use a website like wowhead to find out where they are located, or maybe ask in trade chat for a group, or even hang out at the entrance and wait for people to show up and ask to tag along.

Still, I would not bother, its not really all that fun running behind people looting corpses and watching as they kill the bosses before you unsheathe your weapons.

The easiest thing to do might be to level to 90 - a fair chunk of the old raids are easily soloable for a max level character because of how much the stats have scaled in the expansions. Then you could just go in by yourself and melt face.
