Without a guide though, when you first start playing. I remember in L2, if you died you would lose hours worth of XP.

FFXI wasn't crappy just took longer to lvl when the so called "quests" ran out(not that they gave the player any exp to begin with) and all that was left is to go to Valk dunes or some other place and group for hours on end just going to the next zone. FFXI made the players work to gain their lvls where as WoW the exp is 50-50 with the amount of mobs to kill vs the quest exp reward. Classic WoW was hard enough back then not like it is now where you practically can't die unless your just totally careless.

Joana's and other top guides like zygor and dugis help you mostly by saving you from making mistakes and doing things in the wrong order. If you don't have tons of time to play like me they are a big help.

Seriously, Glock, you like endlessly watching week after week of grinding football games?

Not everyone wants to turn on the tv and instantly watch the Super Bowl every week. For many it is the journey and the development that is a large part of the fun.
