What's wrong with using PvP gear in raids?

#1SpookingPosted 2/24/2013 8:42:01 PM
Got chewed out for using PvP gear in raids. My regular gear looks exactly like PvP gear without the PvP stats. What's the problem?

These days, nothing. Just ignorant players.

Back in Cata and earlier, loss of stats due to resilience.

Honestly it's not that big of a deal anymore now that PvP gears has good non-PvP secondary stats on them now. In previous expansions it was an issue, but now PvP gear can actually be better than a lot of LFR stuff.

Generally the PvP stats are in place of secondary stats (Hit, Crit, Haste, Expertise, Mastery)

Back in early progression MoP, the serious guilds used PvP gear in the slots they could afford to cover by the time the raids opened.

The thing is: PvP gear at the moment is inferior to its equivalent PvE gear. Aka: If you compare PvE/PvP blues, Honor Points / Normal Mode purples, and Conquest Point / Heroic Mode purples, you will find that the PvE gear has a higher ilvl always.

Wrong as of MoP. Pre-MoP a piece of gear had haste and resilience. The same piece now has haste, crit, PvP power and PvP resilience (for example).

Absolutely nothing. A piece of PvP gear will be just as strong, stat-wise, as a piece of PvE gear of equivalent ilvl. The only deterrent is that PvP gear is lower ilvl than PvE gear of the same tier, but if you're using epic PvP gear to do LFR, that doesn't matter.

^all of you wrong, quit defending the use of pvp gear in raids.

You don't use it in raids not because you don't get stats, but because you don't get AS MUCH stats as pve gear.

Equal ilvl items will have comparable PvE stats. If the PvP gear has a higher ilvl, you probably want to use it.

Interesting about the no more loss of secondary stats on PvP gear thing.
That explains why the crafted 450 pvp gear seems like such a popular selling point on my realm.
