How many expansions do you think are left?

If wow continues at its current stride and stay this popular, I expect there to be two more expansions before Blizzard release Titan.

"Quite a lot."

They've got at least two planned out at the moment. As in, right now they have the foundations laid for two expansions in the future. I don't think WoW is "ending" on either one of them, either.

I imagine we'll keep getting routine expansions until about 2020 or so, and if the subscriber numbers taper off in a huge margin, we might see smaller, lighter expansions. But I can't imagine they'll ever stop making expansions until the subscriber base drops below 500,000. Even then, I doubt they would stop. MMOs are insanely profitable, even with low amounts of users.

No one is just going to stop and say "Well, we've made enough money!".

Look at freaking everquest. That still gets tons of content, and there can't be more than a quarter of a million people playing that, if that.

Plus, Titan won't mean jack to WoW. It's not a WoW2, and even if it was, a WoW2 wouldn't mean jack to WoW. People just don't stop making things that make money. It doesn't work like that.
The biggest problem Titan has going for it is that it's going to be a new IP in a market that has been real unfriendly to new MMOs in the last.. forever.

At least two. Possibly more, though I'm not sure how they'll handle stuff when characters can already hit level 100.

That's easy, every one get their level divide by 2 round down so everyone would be level 50 again and have to level to 60 all over again.

I say two more core expansions, so to speak, to get us to 100. Then after that they'll continue to release smaller expansions for as long as they're profitable.

This is the kind of thought I had too.

Once the next two expansions are out and done, I can see them doing like EQ does, and just adding smaller expansions every year that add a large amount of raid content or high-end content tailored for max level players.

I anticipate two more big expansions followed by a period where Blizzard will begin to more aggressively focus on the shadowy "WoW 2," whatever that may be. WoW itself will likely see routine expansions until it is no longer profitable for them to develop for it (probably at the point where it dips below 2 million subscribers), although I strongly suspect that future expansions will be a lot less extensive (and cheaper) than the current model.

I also expect WoW to eventually transition to F2P at some point, probably whenever Blizzard's next big MMO launches.
