:'C

I've got bad luck with drops, (already lost the roll on 2 direhorns from Warbringers)
So I figured at least I could get the red one from Sunreavers.

Well, a few days ago I saw someone on their red direhorn. Awesome! I thought

Until i saw someone ride past on a Jade Direhorn, which was quite literally DOUBLE the size. Makes the rep direhorn look like a complete joke.

Yes. The rep direhorn is called a 'primal' direhorn, while the drops are called 'primordial'

They are different sizes.

Seems like the Reins of the Crimson Primal Direhorn is smaller then the ones that drops from the Zandalari warbringers.

I just went up to a dude who had a Primordial one (how did the name difference answer my question?), and they are a bit bigger. The difference really isn't that huge, though. Certainly not "twice as big," and most definitely not literally so.

Define 'twice as big'?

Multiplying linear lengths by two, perhaps not.

But consider a side view of a rectangle, about the size of a mount. Say it is 3m long by 1.5m high.

In order to be 'twice' as big, one interpretation could be that is has twice the area. Thus, 2*3*1.5 = 9m, which would be a rectangle of about 4.25m long by 2.12m high.

edit: for reference, I made a quick image showing the red direhorn at original size, and the jade at twice the size, by proportional area. This appears to match almost exactly what I observed in game.

Yeah, that wasn't the size difference I saw at all.

No real way to say for sure without a side-by-side shot, which I unfortunately did not think to do at the time since I was just like "oh hey they are a little bigger," but yeah it definitely did not look that drastic.

But this is important to you, so you're going to insist that it is until proof is given, so why am i even posting

I'm sorry you disagree, angrywalrus. I can't lie about what I saw. Most people seem to think it is a bug, so there is a chance it could be inconsistent across different characters/realms etc. I specifically remember the large direhorn character walking directly into the red direhorn player, and the size difference was so great that the red direhorn was practically invisible, short of the tips of his horns and collar barely poking out from underneath the larger model.
