just like with star wars, right

Probably more like Age of Conan or Warhammer.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Elder Scrolls series but I just don't picture it even coming remotely close to topping WoW. I am glad, however, that they chose to set the MMO in the past so they can still move forward with their offline games.

Which is precisely why it won't kill WoW, it isn't even trying to. The game is just trying to be an Elder Scrolls game with social aspects. The developers even said that. It wants to create it's own fanbase.

And Age of Conan, and Warhammer Online, and... the list goes on.

WoW is a terrible game

It's still the best fantasy MMO out right now.

The list of Wow "topplers" is about as big as the list of Fox's failed shows....and trust me both are very big lists.

Aion
Warhammer
Guild Wars 1 AND 2
Rift (Probably the best one and only because its like a 90% Wow clone).
Both Online FF games

None of them came even close and neither will TES. Especially if its as buggy as Skyrim hahahahahaha. Imagine the horrible launch, people though Error 37 and Sim City server problems were bad XDXDXD. Just imagine them launching a server based TES. Soooo buggy, though after the kinks were worked out it would probably be pretty good.

To be honest, it won't kill WoW but it might weaken it.

No it's not, this rubbish is all in WoW players heads. One, ONE Dev in the history of MMOs has said their game will be a WoW killer.
The only people that ever say it about any other games are WoW players, no one else cares.

Lol, WoW has been dead for 2-3 years now.

So what you're saying is WoW has achieved immortality.

Sweet!

I hope it doesn't follow the road age of conan did, I will give it a shot but I am not expecting it to overthrow WoW or match the status Everquest had when it was released. I hope it manages to hold it's own though.
