Leveling paladin entirely through BG's. How terrible of an idea is this?

And which spec would be the least horrible to do this?

Holy might be the best.... but it would still be very horrible

It used to be not too bad...but now? It will suck after that exp nerf awhile back.

Leveling anything purely in Bgs sucks since you don't get random bgs with the bonus honor(exp) reward until like 45.

At low(er) levels prot is or used to be very strong as you could one shot people near enough with avengers shield. Not sure about higher levels for pvp but holy may be worth a shot assuming holy shock hasn't been nerfed for lower levels too much.

I did this on my rogue for most of his leveling. It's slow compared to PvE methods, but doable-- it's good if you enjoy PvP and don't mind taking your time, though. Your main problem is going to be that, until level 60, there is very little honor gear-- I occasionally had to either hit the AH, get on my leatherworker, or run some dungeons to upgrade my non-heirloom slots.

The problem with holy? There's a severe lack of caster plate before level 70 (when you can just buy the level 70 honor set.) Even heirlooms won't cover every slot-- I think the only holy plate 'looms are PvP shoulders. My advice would be to wait for the mainstat unification so you can use the ret plate for holy if you plan to do this.

There's only one BG worth doing for XP and that's only during CtA.

Entirely through BGs is not a good idea. Just queue when you feel like it and quest while queued.
