Why, because nobody who plays video games in 2-player mode actually has friends over at the house to do it any more? I find it ridiculous that games with only online multiplayer allow you to play with anybody in the world...aside from the person sitting next to you. But game developers just don't understand that I suppose.
True. However, if you try lumping me in with EA, I'll have to disagree. They've applied common sense vs trendy for the past 8 years or so when it comes to NFS, which is much worse than me, you have to admit. ;)
