No need to be jealous. Anyway, it's now been listed in the latest Gamespot preview that there will indeed be a mode in the new HP that is police-free, for those racers out there that are too timid to face us. The short article is here if anybody wants to read it (and I'll leave it un-linked for the Gamefaqs users...;) ) http://gamescom.gamespot.com/story/6273925/need-for-speed-hot-pursuit-updated-hands-on/?tag=previews%3Btitle%3B2
A little bit more gameplay here, showing off Autolog as well as some night chasing. Everything looks great...like a combo of Most Wanted and HP2, and that's certainly not bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td6tfz4K98Q
Quick-bump here. As it turns out, based on an article that I read, racers may indeed be able to drop spiked traps, at least in offline play. But I still don't think they can call in choppers to do it...
It does look quite similar, and it even has the little road there indicating the shortcut before the loop. I really hope they re-create more areas like that, in a remake of the NFS3 or High Stakes tracks.
