Wow, you are doing a great job of that.

I'm playing with the mapmaker myself. Awesome entertainment still to be had from a game more than a decade old.

I managed to reach the checkpoint and on one attempt got to the Dark Machinist Child but his drill killed me almost instantly.

Robot factory on hard is absolutely brutal. This game is also the best shooter ever made

Actually beat it two weeks ago. The only exceptionally hard parts were the 4th and 5th nodes. I actually got through the entire stage with only a fifth of my health left - it gets slightly easier in the middle.
