Yeah, I'm sure you've seen a lot of topics about this. Well, sorry to bug you people again with this.
Due to previous computer problems, I've had to get a replacement computer, and lost my previous emulator stuff, so I have played this before, and managed to get the patch to work before. All I did was name both the ROM and the patch the same, with .gba and .ips at the end respectively, placed them in the same folder, and it worked just fine.
However, this time around, it's not. When I don't have the .ips file in the same folder as the .gba file, it plays normally in Japanese. However, when I put the patch file in, VBA shows a white screen when I open Fire Emblem, and I can't play. Here's where I downloaded the patch, since the orignal place seems to be gone.
Macs don't support soft patching. You have to hardpatch the ROM with a program like IPSWin or LunarIPS (however, these aren't Mac-compatible as far as I know). Google "Mac compatible IPS patcher" or something to that effect. --- 3480-2210-9992: Brawl Friend Code, always up for 1v1. 0860-2316-4965: GH3 Friend Code, always up for Expert.
Maybe it's a difference between Leopard and Tiger, then. I just know that you'll have to hardpatch the ROM. --- 3480-2210-9992: Brawl Friend Code, always up for 1v1. 0860-2316-4965: GH3 Friend Code, always up for Expert.
Well, the only patch programs that say they're Mac compatible don't want to seem to work for me. I get either a .sit or .sitx file, and when I try to open it, TextEdit opens and gives me a load of random symbols.
Crud, so much for playing this in english again. --- "Bucky? Are you expecting a cat monk?" --Rob Wilco, Get Fuzzy
