All that exists to them is their anecdotal experience, which becomes law.

Like I make this topic, about this boss, whose attacks can get REALLY tricky or BS if he randomly chooses to do them in an order that is tough for the player to deal with. And that this fact makes the boss a jerkass, because randomness of his move patterns affects dramatically the difficult from attempt to attempt. I then get A LOT of people responding by insulting me, regurgitating what THEY did that worked for them ONCE and acting like I needed that "advice" and that this refutes what I said. The whole topic was about how sometimes it can be easy, sometimes it can be hard, and they post a time they had it was easy and act like that's...anything of substance.

And that topic went on for like 100 to 200 posts, mostly of people just doing the same thing and attacking me.


There was another topic there, someone else, who got literally stuck, in a falling animation, and explicitly said they couldn't use items. About 5 different people all suggested he use the item homeward bone to warp away. Even after someone else pointing out they said they can't use items, more people kept making that suggestion.

It's just...amazing how stupid the people who gravitate towards game boards can be.

I think what happens is it's like, everyone wants to be the person who answers the question, so they just kinda rush. As soon as they THINK they read enough, they skip straight to answering. So they don't read the whole post or the topics in the post.

But there's also an attitude problem that comes with this sometimes. A lot of folks on the Dark Souls board act like... Well, jocks. Like, video game jocks. If that makes sense. It's like they think they're these great players who are looking for an excuse to flex their gaming muscle and reaffirm how superior they are. And often their attempts are a misfire.

You pretty much can't say anything about having a hard time with ANYTHING on that board without attracting people who feel compelled to tell you how you suck, are doing it wrong, and that they're better than you and have an easy time with what you're talking about.

Luckily I was able to help the person. Which is good, since they were assuming they lost the save file basically and were gonna delete it.

I hope that solution spreads around so no one thinks they're stuck.

Well yeah, I haven't been going there much lately. Antagonistic and/or stupid people being there makes it easier to put off going back as much when I have a game to play.
