Best and Worst weapon from each game

MM1 + Fire Storm
MM1 - Guts Man's weapon (cant remember the name)

MM2+ Metal Blades (kills 4 bosses, useful in every stage)
MM2- Atomic Fire (I never use it, not even against WoodMan (I prefer Metal Blade)

MM3+ Magnet Missile (easy to target with)
MM3- Shadow Blade (I know it's useful but I suck with it, the range is poor)

MM4+ Ring Boomerang (kills many bosses)
MM4- Skull Barrier (can't shoot them)

MM5+ Water Wave (it's fast)
MM5- Power Stone (tough to target with)

MM6+ Knight Crusher
MM6- Plant Barrier

MM7+ FreezeMan's weapon
MM7- Spring Recoil

MM8+ Tornado Hold
MM8- Water Balloon

MM9+ Hornet Chaser (they cute!)
MM9- Magma Bazooka (I never use it)

MM10+ Chill Spikes (usefull in commado stage to mark the ground during sanstorms)
MM10- Water Shield (tough to target with)

I'm not a big fan of shield-type weapon (wood, plant, jewel) in general.

MM1 + Fire Storm (Thunder Beam, runner up)
MM1 - Super Arm

MM2+ Metal Blade (Quick Boomerang, runner up)
MM2- Time Stopper

MM3+ Shadow Blade
MM3- Gemini Laser

Haven't played 4-10 in a while, so not gonna comment on those...

Nobody seems to care about the Game Boy games because most of the weapons were the same, but I'm really stretching for creativity now.

MM1- The Rolling Cutter can take out every normal enemy in the game, including Bigeye
MM2-Still the Metal Blades, but it's less useful now because you can't aim and not move
MM3-Drill Bombs have a large blast radius plus they're just cool
MM4-Pharaoh Shot is like an Atomic Metal Blade
MM5-The break dash is like Charge Kick V9005 because it gives Mega Man tons of invincibility time

---It's funny that people put more effort into GAMEFAQS reviews more they do school papers

I've only played part one on the Game Boy.

You should definately play MMV on Game Boy. It is too widely overlooked. Solid game, fun levels, unique bosses. Also note on Game Boy MM1 is the most brutally hard (I feel it's harder than MM1 NES), MM2 is easier but has horrible sound, MM3-5 are much better and get progressively better.

Mega Man 2:

Best: Metal Blade, why would it ever be any different.
Worst: Time Stopper, if only you could use just a part of it at a time . . .

Mega Man 4 fixed that. The Flash Stopper actually can be used in many situations. It's a very high utility weapon.

MM3:
Worst: Top Spin - It's so hard to use without hurting yourself in the process or depleting like all your energy in one go. It helps a lot against the hardest master (Shadow Man), though. So maybe I should cut it some slack..

It's actually one of the best weapons in the game, from a sheer usefulness standpoint. There's a number of enemies it doesn't work or doesn't do damage to (and using it against them, or Shadow Man without knowing how to avoid the energy drain bug is bad), but when you do know which enemies are affected by it, all normal enemies to Top Spin are a one-hit kill. You can easily rush through entire stage segments spamming the heck out of Top Spin to avoid damage, switch weapons for a moment to deal with a resistant enemy, then swap back. The first Wily stage is pretty much all Top Spin vulnerable enemies.

The real candidate for worst in MM3 is Spark Shock, which does no damage and doesn't allow you to pass through stunned enemies (you still take damage when touching them), so it's generally just easier to shoot them with your peashooter. Gemini Laser's pretty awful too.

What's the trick to Top Spin?

I agree about Spark Shock. It seemed to have very little use outside select boss fights. As for Gemini Laser, it's very situational. It's meant to be used to hit an out of reach target. IIRC it has use in Hard Man's Stage & Snake Man's Stage. I think the Crystal Eye's refraction was better.
