Got a slim and my disc based version wont play (i knew it wouldnt but tried out of desperation)

Really love the game and veey much wish to play it again

I ordered a used copy on Gamestop a about a month ago for $14 and I got it in the mail less than a week later. I'd give them a try if you want to play it again.

of course it won't. PS3 models haven't been capable of supporting PS2 games since like 2007.

but I agree that this should be a downloadable game for PS3. I actually had to go out and buy a used PS2 just to start replaying my copy of this, and it's the only PS2 game I own lol.

Wasn't there a sale where ps2 were sold for like $40 or something just last month (if you're in the US)? It's probably more viable to buy the ps2 than hoping for this game to appear on PSN. ps2 is quite cheap now even if you're not in the US, anyway :)

I would rather see it as an HD Collection, maybe paired with the Japanese exclusive Dragon Quest V remake for the PS2.
