How much of this game was finished before the Square-Enix merger?

It seems a bit more distinctly Enix than Square or Square-Enix...

The merger didn't affect the DQ or FF series. Within SquareEnix is still a core group of developers for Dragon Quest, and a core group of developers for Final Fantasy, the merger did not blend the two.

Well, you can put basic gameplay under Yuji Horii, and art by Toriyama... pretty much everybody else involved was Level 5.
