I beat Lassic. I have to go back to the Governer, fair enough. The Governer is missing, and I fall into a dungeon below his mansion. Okay, I can deal with that. When I get to the bottom, I walk around in circles, and find nothing. I use the Flute to escape and wander around 3 freaking planets. Eventually, I give up and read the guide. Apparently, I walked past a door that I couldn't see because the designers didn't make a graphic for doors that appear on the side wall. EVERY OTHER FREAKING DOOR IN THE GAME sits in a little alcove! I also have a problem with the fact that the strongest enemies at the end of the game are worth little more XP than the monsters on Motavia.
I actually loved this game, and I'm looking forward to playing the 2nd and 3rd games, since I only played Phantasy Star IV as a kid. I just had to gripe about that door, though :) --- Homestar, shut up! This is about that patch on the couch. It's clearly already on there in your flashback. Fair enough. I don't know if I would have ever been able to find that door if my older brother didn't tell me about it. There is another door like that in the prison tower on the way to Baya Malay and the only hint in the game is saying there is some way out. I'm glad you were still able to finish the game and walk away saying it was a good game :) --- Check out my Phantasy Star parody comic http://www.drunkduck.com/Phantasy_Star_Replay
I remember one guy saying "Don't trust your eyes in the dungeon," but he was in the floating castle, so I assumed he was referring to Lassic's ghost.
It is a great series with an above-average plot. The only game I played as a kid was Phantasy Star IV. I recently tried Phantasy Star II again, and it's amazing how bad the music is compared to the first and fourth games. --- Homestar, shut up! This is about that patch on the couch.
