I am short on rupees and I am wondering if it is worth it to go through the effort of getting rupees and buying potions before I head into Ganon's Tower. Thanks.

I wouldn't waste money on red potions at all. I recommend getting the 2 bottles in town and getting the bug catchers net from the sick boy in town. Catch fairies and if you really need to get the mushroom in the lost woods so you can turn anti-fairies into fairies.

I've never understood why people think potions are worth using over fairies which are free and better...

The only way a fairy could be better is if you somehow forget to restore your life and end up getting yourself killed. Even then, one fairy should suffice as insurance while your other bottle space goes toward the much more useful blue potions.

I keep Faeries in bottles, in case i die......

If i am running low on magic, I'll freeze something and whack it with the hammer.... Big Green Bottle most of the time as a reward.....

No magic isn't possible. You need magic to light torches in various rooms. As well as kill Kholdstare and Trinexx.

Unless you are talking wall glitch, which you don't really need anything to beat the game.

I usually run through the game with two blue potions and two fairies. It's the best of both worlds, IMO.

And rupees are easy enough to come by...you can get enough to afford all the potions you want in five minutes or less.
